Love this history! I grew up in Massachusetts and HoJo’s were everywhere. My high school, boyfriend and I used to skip Sunday mass to go get breakfast at HoJo’s. I was fond of the scrambled eggs with ham and a corn toastee. Thanks for bringing back some good memories of simpler times.
This is amazing. Loved these places on road trips in the 70s with my parents. Miss them so much. And remember the Times Square location? So iconic. Bring them back, someone, please, and King’s Food Hosts while you’re at it.
Thanks for reading, Wini. I did not know HoJo's had been on Times Square! Of course, I had to look it up once you mentioned it. I see it opened in 1955 (so did King's) and closed in 2005. Being a Southern girl, I never ate at a King's.
This write-up on Howard Johnson's is nostalgic! Sadly, many of those cultural landmarks of my youth have passed from the scene.
Mine as well! I hope to at least preserve the memories with articles like these in the Mailbag. Thanks for reading, Richard!

Oh, my. Every childhood roadtrip. HoJos and/or Stuckey's...
Oh, my. Yes. Stuckey's too. And their pecan log rolls.
